Shri Rajeev Gupta is a Special Class Railway Apprentice of 1975 batch and joined Western Railway in 1980 after a 4 year Apprenticeship . He has served on Western Railway, Production Units, Railway Board, DRDO, and Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). Other assignments include Chairman, Mumbai Port Trust & Joint Secretary (Ministry of Shipping) and was also Chief Controller of Chartering I/c (TRANSCHART) 2007- 10 and Director General (Shipping) for a few months. He has been a nominee on the Boards of Chennai and Kolkata Port Trust, Cochin Shipyard , Shipping Corp of India and its JVs, Inland Waterways Authority, IRS, Indian Maritime University, Research Institutions and Bodies, Industry Trade & Labour Associations. Shri Gupta joined the Academy in April 2016.
He is conversant with Bilateral and Multilateral Maritime/WTO Negotiations, JWGs, IMO ,ILO, IOPC Conventions, Domestic Maritime Legislation, Corporate Governance CSR, Shipping Finance, Acquisition , Liner Operations & Conferences, Competition Law, Ship Chartering, Multimodal & Coastal Shipping, Navigational Aids Electronic Surveillance & Coastal Security, Port Finances, Infrastructure Projects (EPC/PPP) , EIA, Real Estate Policy, Oil Pollution Mitigation, Shipbuilding Repairs and Recycling, Railway, Port and Pipeline Management, Operation, Maintenance & Safety. Manufacturing Maintenance and Repair of Rolling Stock, IT infrastructure, Application Development & ERP systems.
He is a Heritage Conservation and History Enthusiast. He has traveled widely over South and East Asia, Middle East, Australia, China, Europe, USA and parts of North Africa.
