Examination Policy

Railway Board have laid down the following guidelines vide their letter No. E(Trg.)2009 (13)/3 dated 19-12-2011 for examining and assessing the IRAS probationers during their training. The under mentioned examinations have to be passed by IRAS Probationers and the weightage of each exam is as below.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.<!--[endif]-->Induction Course at  - NAIR                           150 marks

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.<!--[endif]-->Phase -I Training at NAIR                              100 marks

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4.<!--[endif]-->Phase- II *Training at NAIR                           100 marks

<!--[if !supportLists]-->5.<!--[endif]-->Training at Management Institute                  100 marks

<!--[if !supportLists]-->6.<!--[endif]-->Audit Training at NAAA/Shimla                     35 marks

<!--[if !supportLists]-->7.<!--[endif]-->Taxation Trg. at NADT/Nagpur                      30 marks

<!--[if !supportLists]-->8.<!--[endif]-->PPP Training at IRITM/Lucknow                   35 makrs

<!--[if !supportLists]-->9.<!--[endif]-->Final Departmental Exam at NAIR                 200 marks

<!--[if !supportLists]-->10.<!--[endif]-->Assessment by the Course Director.#            350 marks 

TOTAL                                                                 1250 marks

The marks mentioned in the above examinations (1250) will be added to the UPSC marks, reduced to a base of 2050 to arrive at the inter-se seniority of the probationers.

* The phase assessment may consist of a dissertation/Presentation of 20 marks and examination consisting of 80 marks. However this breakup of evaluation and marking system may undergo change.

# The breakup of the 350 marks on CD’s assessment is as follows.

1.       Training Review                       70

2.       Field Training Diary                 70

3.       DG/CD’s assessment              70

4.       Feedback from the field           70

5.       General Performance.              70

TOTAL                         350

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.<!--[endif]-->Only one supplementary chance is given for passing the examinations. Failure to pass the supplementary examination may result in termination of services.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.<!--[endif]-->No Probationer will be relieved from NAIR for posting unless he/ she has passed all the examinations.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.<!--[endif]-->The pass marks for Foundation, Induction, Phase-I and Phase-II exams. are 60%. For the Departmental Examination the pass marks are 40% in each paper and 50% in aggregate. For exemption from appearing in re-examination in any subject, 60% marks are required.
