Shri Rajnish Kumar, Prof. Information Tech. & Secy.to DG - MR award in 2015
Rajnish Kumar, Professor Information Technology has excelled as Faculty in taking his sessions on IT related subjects in the Academy.Besides he has taken several initiatives beyond his call of duty for improvement in infrastructure, cleanliness campaign for improving campus hygiene etc., under ‘Swachchha Bharat Abhiyan.’ Simultaneously, he has also kept on pursuing his PhD from IIT Varanasi completing it in December 2014, in which he worked on improving the Procurement Process of the Locomotive Manufacturer of IR i.e. DLW, Varanasi.The recommendations of the thesis are of great practical significance and have been submitted to Railway Board by him.The study was very extensive and he has developed therein quantitative models for classification of items, determining the optimal number of suppliers, objective evaluation of suppliers andcapability assessment of new/potential suppliers.He has also to his credit publishing several articles on topics of Operations Research, Supplier Management, IT Applications, thereby disseminating knowledge on unexplored areas in Railways to all trainee as well as serving officers.
During the course of the year, he was very actively involved in organizing a couple of seminars, which were appreciated by all.Recently he has also been instrumental in developing the Knowledge Portal for Indian Railways.
